Two checks at different stages
For an eyeshadow compact that actually uses adhesive to retain its pans, an early handling check and a final bond assessment answer different questions. The first asks whether the assembly can move through a defined next operation without disturbing the pan. The second assesses the bond after the specified conditioning or curing process. A pan staying in place during gentle handling does not establish its resistance to later service loads.

Define the adhesive process first
Use the selected adhesive manufacturer's instructions for the actual substrates and process. Work time, handling strength and full cure are separate terms in adhesive technical information, including 3M's industrial adhesive documentation. Those industrial products and their published times are not recommendations for cosmetic packaging. The suitable adhesive, contact conditions and required assessment must be established for the particular assembly.
Record adhesive identity and batch, pan and cavity surface condition, applied amount or bond-line control, assembly time, temperature and humidity. A record saying only 'tested tomorrow' cannot show how long each specimen was conditioned or whether the intended curing conditions were maintained.
Make timing part of the test result
Assign specimen IDs and record the elapsed time from the defined bonding step to each assessment. If mixing, activation or a separate curing operation is involved, identify its timing too. Define the early handling operation and its acceptance criteria separately from the later retention assessment.
Use separate specimens where a check could damage or disturb the bond. Keep geometry, surface preparation and loading method consistent when comparing conditioning times. Photograph displacement or the failure location and record whether separation occurred at an interface, within the adhesive or through a component. A failure pattern guides investigation; it does not identify the cause by itself.
Keep the conclusion within the assessment
Report which assembly and conditioning interval passed which check. Do not turn a final bond check into proof of the entire product's shelf life, transport durability or formula compatibility. Those require their own relevant evaluations.
