Changing a lipstick housing from ABS to PP, or the reverse, requires a review of the named component and its mating parts. A resin family describes a starting material; it does not establish the finished dimensions, stiffness or fit of a particular cap or barrel.
Identify the component being changed
Separate the outer housing from the cup, mechanism and any internal sleeve. Record the current material grade, drawing revision and proposed replacement grade for the affected part. A proposal to change the outer shell is not permission to change every plastic component in the assembly.

Review molding and fit together
Protolabs describes differences between ABS and PP in molding shrinkage and dimensional behavior, while cautioning that properties depend on the selected grade and part geometry. These general tendencies explain why a substitution needs engineering review; they do not provide a shrinkage allowance for a specific lipstick component.
Review how the proposed material and process affect the dimensions that locate the mechanism, join the barrel or retain the cap. Compare representative molded parts with the agreed drawing after the specified conditioning. A cavity developed for one material cannot be assumed to produce the same part dimensions with another.
Check the assembled response
Measure relevant features and evaluate assembly using the actual mating components. Review cap seating and removal, housing movement and mechanism operation separately. A part can meet an isolated dimension yet behave differently because its stiffness or deformation under load has changed.
If a change is being investigated, keep the comparison identifiable: existing configuration, proposed configuration, component versions and test conditions. An appearance prototype made by another process can communicate shape but cannot establish the behavior of the final molded housing.
Approve the finished configuration
Evaluate the intended coating, print or other decoration on the proposed substrate. Surface preparation and finish suitability need their own confirmation. Where the changed component contacts formula, include the applicable material and filled-product evaluation; neither PP nor ABS is a universal approval for cosmetic contact.
