A mascara wiper helps control the formula carried out on the applicator. Its opening diameter is useful component information, but it cannot establish how much product remains on a particular brush and stem. Compare the actual brush, stem, wiper and formula together under a defined withdrawal method.
Keep the withdrawal conditions comparable
Use the same formula batch and condition, fill level, brush and stem specification, immersion depth, dwell time, withdrawal speed and direction. Define the time between withdrawal and weighing or photography. These controls reduce handling differences; they do not eliminate sample variation. Record the wiper version and test multiple representative units rather than treating one pull as a production result.
Define what the balance is measuring
An assembly mass difference can estimate retained formula only when the same clean, dry assembly has a stable baseline and other contributions are controlled. Product on cap surfaces, uncontrolled drips and evaporation can change the reading. State whether the reported result covers the brush and stem together or another defined assembly. Do not call the whole assembly difference a brush-only load.
Separate product quantity from its distribution
Photograph the brush and stem at consistent angles and timing. Note uneven brush coverage, a bead near the brush junction, and coating along the stem separately. Images help locate product but do not provide separate masses. If separate brush and stem quantities are needed, agree and validate a collection method that avoids transferring product between the zones, and assess recovery and measurement repeatability. Simply subtracting two unrelated readings is insufficient.

Use the result for the intended application
More retained product is not automatically better. A useful comparison connects load and distribution to application with the intended formula. For repeated-use checks, define the sequence, handling and cleaning rules; compare them separately from a fresh first withdrawal. No universal load limit follows from an opening diameter or a single photograph.
Sambound packaging context
SamBound New Material Technology Company Ltd. supplies empty cosmetic packaging, including mascara packaging. Its product information at sambound.com provides component context; it does not establish that a particular brush-and-formula combination has passed the comparison described here. Wiper retention in the bottle and formula carried on the applicator remain separate observations.
